![]() I prefer to play tarkov like arma/dayz rather than an arena shooter or cod kinda game. What I love about woods is the flow of the map for the most part. ![]() Thanks for reading, this was very stream of conciousness so it might read bad idk. I think not liking Woods is fine, but I find a lot of the hate to be extremely goofy. It isn't a combat funnel like Customs, labs, or Factory, but it also isn't a massive open void like Snoreline. I understand why people don't like it but I think most of the reasons boil down to woods being a map that grants the player the most freedom of any other map in the game, and this means new and enfranchised players alike will have trouble relying on their typical crutches that work for other maps. Ultimately, woods is what you make of it. This map rewards being methodical and clever over being godly accurate. ![]() I cannot tell you how many times I hear someone charging into the military base, not checking any corners, and they just run into my bullets. The number one tip I have that feels so obvious to me but nobody ever seems to listen to is USE YOUR EARS. While this map is certainly more ratty than it is chaddy, if you are one extreme of either of these I am probably going to bully you very hard on this map because you are simply way too predictable. This is one of the reasons I hate the Rat/Chad dichotomy because it forces players into being extremely unadabtable and have horrible game sense. Sure, maybe someone surprises you and gets the first shot off, but you almost always have the chance to run away, take cover, or reingage if you want to. This map rewards being adaptable and having good game sense. I believe this for many of the reasons I stated just a second ago. Not the best maybe, probably Customs or Factory takes the cake there, but it isn't nearly as bad as people say. Combat: I actually think woods has some of the better combat in this game.Just think about where the long lines of sight are, it really can't be that hard guys. I get it if your new, but I don't think anyone has an excuse to actually be consistently dying to snipers on this map. If you are genuinely consistently getting sniped on this map as an enfranchised player I actually don't know what to tell you. There is always a way to use your map knowledge to outplay almost anybody or remove yourself from bad engagements. You can pick whatever fights you want whenever you want or ignore everyone. I love woods because you can choose to be as aggressive as you want. The only reason you don't like the design is because you are incapable of remembering where you are and have very bad game sense. Map design: Woods is not nearly as bad as people think it is.Sugar, Opthalmoscopes, Moonshine, Alyonka, Goldenstars, Ibuprofins, Lupo beans, high tier 5.45 ammo, nvg's, high tier attachments, etc, etc. The amount of mid tier loot items you can get on this map is insane. Literally all you have to do is hit the camps/military base, then the outskirts shack and you are done. If you know what you're doing, you can easily make 1mil plus in 2 raids of woods with a very low amount of risk. Well ok, this is slightly debatable between lighthouse and reserve as well, but in my opinion actually surviving a woods raid is orders of magnitude easier than on either of these maps, so the ability for you to actually keep your loot outways some of the higher tier loot you can find on either of those maps. Looting: Woods is the best looting map in the game unless you count insane chad maps like Snoreline and Labs where your average player will get demolished off of the face of the earth. However, the truly refined tarkov player will realize that both sides are wrong for the reasons listed below. On the other hand, good players/chads will get angry because there aren't ledx's everywhere and you can't just go w k monkey mode and instantly kill the whole lobby. Bad/new players will get angry because they find the map confusing, don't know how to loot, or have zero situational awareness. I know this is one of those opinions that will basically get me crucified from both ends of the Tarkov spectrum.
